Anti-inflammatory Turmeric Fruit Smoothie Recipe

Hearty breakfast smoothies are the perfect way to kickstart your day. Creamy and naturally sweet, this tropical golden smoothie is packed with immune-boosting ingredients and is deliciously healthy.

The key ingredient in this smoothie is turmeric. Loaded with medicinal properties, this bright yellow spice has an earthy aroma and has slightly peppery and bitter flavors, with a subtle ginger taste. Curcumin is the active ingredient in turmeric that gives it its potent anti-inflammatory powers. Researchers have found that turmeric may reduce inflammation, including that from arthritis, and it has been shown to have positive effects on the brain, body and certain diseases (source).

This smoothie contains whole ingredients and you could even add seeds (think chia and hemp hearts) or nut butters for an extra nutritional boost.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup frozen pineapple
  • 1 fresh banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen mango
  • 1 tsp. ground turmeric
  • 3cm fresh ginger
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp. coconut oil (we prefer Zebra Organics Virgin Raw Coconut Oil)
  • 1 cup milk: Any milk will work, but we recommend almond, cashew or oat
  • Optional: Vegan vanilla protein

Instructions:

  1. Add all ingredients into a blender (We prefer Vitamix)
  2. Blend for 15-20 seconds on a high setting
  3. Serve in a tall glass
